The first film for World of Warcraft debuted in November at BlizzCon. It was directed by Duncan Jones, who previously produced the critically acclaimed sci-fi films Moon as well as Source Code, and stars Dominic Cooper, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Toby Kebbel, along with Clancy Brown.
World of Warcraft is due out on June 10. If a survey from earlier this year is any indication, Blizzard may offer World of Warcraft and all its expansions with a special and premium ticket to the film.
Blizzard declares Heroes of the Storm Is "Much closer to the World of Warcraft Experience"
Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm may have some similarities to the real-time strategy game Starcraft II, but director Dustin Browder has described the game's experience as more in line with that game World of Warcraft .
While many multiplayer online battle arena games follow a single similar layout for its maps Browder spoke to P2Pah explained that Blizzard has taken a distinct approach with Heroes of the Storm. Browder described each battlefield as "its own unique experience, very similar to the World of Warcraft experience as instead of the Starcraft experience. We're trying to come up with something that is different enough that helps us draw our own fans."
As with other games in this genre, smaller, one-on-one encounters can precede larger team-wide conflicts.
Browder was able to clarify why Blizzard has decided to name Heroes of the Storm a brawler game as opposed to a MOBA explaining that "one of the things we wanted to emphasize in the game was that it was full of action. We thought that the name embodied the essence of the game we're hoping to create, a game where players join players and take on with enemy heroes."
